For all of you who are playing KOTH this LINK might be quite useful!
Content of that link:
"Dear all,
We're aware of some issues with select players loosing their ranks and such due to anomalies which are out of our control e.g. game crashes or server crashes.
First of all these are the most common causes of profile resets.
Player Name Change.
Reinstall of Windows.
Reinstall of ARMA.
Profile Tampering.
If you've not changed your name and do not wish to change it, proceed to the bottom of this post.
Reinstalling Windows or ARMA? Follow Steps One to Four. Save your profiles somewhere!
Guide on how to update your profile to retain your rank on name change.
First open "My Documents" within that their should be two sub folders "Arma 3" and "Arma 3 - Other Profiles"
If you've never changed your name till now you need to go to the "Arma 3" folder and copy the following files.
Step One: Locate the two Arma 3 folders within "My Documents"
NOTE: Skip step two if you know you've changed your player name from default.
Step Two: Distinguish if you had changed your name after first installing ARMA 3. You can often work this out by the last edit date/time as shown above in the second row.
Step Three: Ensure that you've already created a second or third character name in-game before proceeding. This is important for the next few steps.
Step Three B: Before continuing ensure that ArmA 3 is shutdown. Open "Arma 3 - Other Profiles" in your My Documents in there should be folder names of ANY player names you've ever had in ARMA 3. Locate your name which you (know) had a rank and such.
In this case mine is just "Inch" once you've opened this you should see the below - minus the backups folder.
Step Four: Copy the .Arma3Profile, vars.Arma3Profile obviously with your previous name as a prefix. As per the above mine starts with "inch" this also applies if you wish to backup your player data somewhere just in-case.
Step Five: Return to the Arma 3 - Other Profiles folder root.
Step Six: Locate your "other" player name which you would now like to use. This will be the name of the folder. Example below:
My other player is "Testy" for the point of this walk through. Yours will be whatever you've chosen.
Step Seven: Paste the recently copied profile files (there should be TWO) into the Testy Folder - again this will be whatever you've changed your name to.
Step Eight: Open the "Testy" folder in there you should see several files one with the prefix of your new name the others with your older one. IF you cannot see your older profile files you've not copied and pasted them, return to Step Four.
Step Nine: Delete or rename (if you'd like to save them for backup purposes rename them) the files starting with the 'Testy' prefix or whatever your new name is!
Step Ten: Rename your older profile files (prefix) ONLY with your new name.
Step Eleven: Start the game and play, you should now have all your stats under your new name.
WARNING: If you attempt to alter the content of these files in ANYWAY your stats will be reset. ONLY rename the file NAMES.
Please take into consideration we are not responsible for crashes or you reinstalling the game.
At the moment as we've said to many people there is no way to restore profiles.
Due to unforeseen holes and skiddies. We won't be doing restores quite yet till we fix some major bugs. We were working on something then got side tracked by a few malicious members of the arma 3 community.
I hope the above helps clear everything up!"
