These are Fann-Mountains of Tajikistan. Fann-darja river starts in these peaks. The region is relatively safe and was not touched by this summer's war in Pamir Tajikistan. Teams of hikers and mountaneers visit it regulary, i even met czechs there (on a group photo above the lake i am the furtherst guy in blue cap and coat). I was there with the friends - group of climbers from my town.
The people that live there are ismailite tajiks - the same kin to tajiks of Northern Afghanistan. They are ancient indoeuropean tribes and speak Dari - very close to persian - so Mo would speak with them freely. The region is very poor - poorer then Afghanistan and plain Tajikistan.
The country is very beautiful - extreemely beautiful. And the ppl too - both men and women. When I saw OA landscapes i immediately thought i need to see this game - it resembles reality perfectly.
