Here are 2 basic way about supporting as infantry soldiers.
1- Attacker team are in open area against enemy behind cover.
As u can see in image, 1 soldier (MG) start supporting fire to enemy position and don't let him to see around. Enemy soldier had to just take cover under heavy fire from MG . 2 other infantry moving to side's and use flank tactics or can use Grenade.

2- Cover and advance this tactics is a basic movement rule in arma. squad split to 2 team. first team starting to covering fire on enemy pos and second team advancing to next cover. and then second team start covering fire on enemy pos and first team moving to nexy cover. until they reach to good distance enemy pos and start final Maneuver. it can be flank enemy or use grenade .

I tried some of this technics occasionally and it often fails. Problem is that if mg supresses enemy from one direction and assault team moves from other (say flanking) then enemy just turns his weapons towards flank. He is still invinsible to mg fire but he can effectively meet assault team. I regret i deleted video where I was supressing one guy behind the rock. Our 2 men went to the rock, moved round to kill enemy - but enemy killed them first - and I with mg could do nothing since enemy was not showing over the rock.
I believe more at second variant - when assault teams goes straight forward under direct covering mg fire (below the line of fire or slightly to the side) and use grenades to kill enemy (thats why i believe riflemen have 4 grenades in inventory)
Second problem is that in Arma players arent really that scared to die, and therefore they rather die then get supressed. As our frontline missions show - when mggunners open suppressive fire insurgents immediately have many casualties - which means noone of them cares much about his life , so sometimes assault team has no work to do when they approach trenches (mg gunners kill all defenders)

We could remove respawn, to other players that would be stupid but for us good because we could get better at situational awareness and working in team.

for demo i prefer the second solution cause there are not so many players but we can try the perma-death in arma 2 in a big open session
