Operation: Cut off the wings (Friday, 6th of September)
Hey guys,
This is going to be our second battle on Island Panthera. This time the 10/21st, and who knows some mates, is tasked to capture an airfield close to the coast. The Takistani Army is know to have a fighter plane and a few transport planes, taking down this airfield will cripple their air superiority.
Time: 13:00 EST (New York) |-| 18:00 GMT |-| 19:00 British summer time |-| 20:00 CET This event can be posponed half an hour to one hour! I might need to go off for an hour some time before 19:20 CET, so the op might start later.
Modset: Advanced Combat Environment @ace @acex @acex_RU @acex_USNavy @acre @lpd29 @pook_SOCR @smk @st_acre_volume @st_interact @st_lb_enhance @st_map_autobrightness @sthud @panthera (client side mods like sound mods or explosion mods can surely be used)

spartacus, How r u? We played yesterday and you miss it. About other coop clan, we just played 2 time, first time they lead and second time was mixed and sasha was first squad leader.also we playing on their dedicated server and missions , and some mods are new for us, until we learn how to use new mods and what is their rule engagement , it need time and we are limited about who persons can speak English easy ! frosttwoczI suggested you , give a numbers or names to coop events like COop 01 10/21 or coop mission name 10/21 for naming events.

Ok, critique area for Fridays Joint COOP: Actually, not that much today. All was quite ok. Leadership of White was good, he manuvered fireteams quite timely and in right manner, in many instances classical fire&manuver. Maybe one of our mistakes was to leave mortar team without security element - however i understand that it would need extra players while we had not so many - about 15 ppl (last game had like 22). More fun (and training) to have most of the guys on the frontline Maybe also in reality opfor would call artillery right on our overwatching hill. And maybe in reality assault on airfield would be either swift hit&run raid such as this - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raid_on_Pebble_Island or as an easy mopping up clearence after massive bombngs like in Gulf War. But regardless of these maybees our fire and manuvers were good, i liked them And I will have video on it in about a week PS: when making COOP missions its good to imagine yourself on the place of AI commander and think about how you would react with the AI force and support you have at hand on that human players attack. In todays case I would call artillery on the hill and counterattack from the flank (later part AI or its patrols did quite well thought they were not en masse). And if i had no artillery and no strong reinforcements available I would abandon this airfield at all for a better place to defend. This is why such attack on full strenght airfield is likely to be hit&run raid in reality - because to avoid enemy reaction you must surprize him and be swift to strike and get out. Actually, the best way to make realistic mission is to get some real war scenario (easiest from wiki) and place it into editor. I also think that it might add intrigue if we add one or two human player slots to AI side (maybe as commander role for AI squad) - that would make missions really challenging

I changed my mind regarding Shacktactical Hud
It is very good, really it makes possible to play as a fireteam and squad. Names which you see for your squad and color for fireteams make it easier to remember who is who. And the compass hud is also great because it really makes you aware where your teammates are.
I believe now this mod to be one of the most essential for Arma

I changed my mind regarding Shacktactical Hud It is very good, really it makes possible to play as a fireteam and squad. Names which you see for your squad and color for fireteams make it easier to remember who is who. And the compass hud is also great because it really makes you aware where your teammates are. I believe now this mod to be one of the most essential for Arma I said before, STHUD is a big help for team play

And the point is still: It's not realistic...no matter what advantages it gives. You have to trust your teammates, work on your skills, what around and don't be fixed forward, so that you don't get lost.

KSK you should play with us joint coop, you will taste sthud
I now think its quite realistic, hud gives you feeling of being in formation, nothing else that might spoil realism

Ye, it doesnt spoil anything. Imagine having to coordinate with your fireteam whilst 100 people are running all around you. Situational awareness and nothing more. Dont forget, you dont have to stretch things into difficulty because it has to be realistic. Dont forget the fun.

Well...getting the information about the formation and my position and my teammates in it via a HUD is actually not realistic. Open your eyes, look left, right and behind, talk with your teammates. That's the way to hold your position. HUD is showing information that you could get, if you open your eyes. Yes, I see the point, that it makes the gameplay with other players more easy. But easy isn't an excuse for lack of realism for me. And I want as much realism as possible in such missions...and I have fun, even without 3rd person view, without crosshair, with exhausted soldiers after running with heavy MG etc. That's why I am playing ArmA and not CoD or BF ...and as I said. It's my point of view.

Agree with K. Good thing would be a version which only shows squad/fireteam (color) members. Since we can't always get to know our squadmates like in real life u train with them
