Are you aware of the project reality mod?
Project Reality (PR) was a mod for Battlefield 2 made a couple of years ago, which tried to simulate realism in combat.
Just this year, they released Project Reality Standalone (like DayZ Standalone) for FREE! This new game reflects almost all the features of Arma 2 demo and more, including: fatigue, bipods, recoil, huge maps etc!
The community there is very much alive after all these years.
Features:
- Standalone game.
- No Battlefield 2 installation required.
- 100 player dedicated servers with up to 8 man squads.
- Integrated custom VOIP system with 3D local speech.
- Realistic behaviour for all aspects of the game while keeping it fun.

I've uploaded the installation file on mediaFire. This should make it simpler for you guys as it skips you having to torrent and use a virtual disk in the first place. Download Link: www.mediafire.com/download/4h4ddmbw1nagkdw/PRBF2_v1_3_Full.7z
1) Download the file using link (7GB download, be patient!)
2) Once downloaded, extract the file using WinRAR or 7Zip
3) Go into file and run the autorun application.
Follow the onscreen instructions to install.
After installation, I recommended you read the manual, makes the game easier to understand!

Just tried this yesterday - the game is decent.
There are lots of players, but too few servers. Its possible that a server set up by D.A.M could become popular quickly.
What surprised me was the level of teamwork - ALL the players were using microphones. I've experienced more cooperation here than in any King Of the Hill server in Arma. When we attacked a village, we hold everyone back for airstrike, assign each team to transport, then take the area in squads.
I have a few complaints though.
It's very complex, you will have to read the game's manual because like Arma, this has a steep learning curve.
There's also no lean mechanic, or destruction physics. Other than that, the players and mechanics are good.
I've had no problems in torrenting it. I will try to post the installation on mediafire, but it's hard as its a 6GB upload

hmm downloaded it and haven't noticed any recoil difference between firing stand and prone
and it says i cant play mp cause wrong mod or wrong profile
